Opus 51 - Lyrics
Time after time, wretched and blind,
An old man swallows his pill to be fine.
Silver and green, covered in dreams,
His tea-cup slips to the floor with a smile.
And outside the window the Bluebird sings his song
While prophets and sages wonder what went wrong.
Living in fright by day and by night,
Sealed in, nobody knew where he was.
Lying in bed, his window beside him,
Dreaming of childhood and how things were done.
And outside the window the Bluebird sings his song
While prophets and sages wonder what went wrong.
Lost behind his glasses, TV up ‘till one.
Keeling over exhausted, the fantasy’s begun.
Listen to me carefully, I’ll tell you where you’ve been:
You have travelled Eastward through the land of nowhere
And you’ve tread upon a soil that’s never been
And outside the window the Bluebird sings his song
While prophets and sages wonder what went wrong.
